Avenue to the Capital

"I captured this view looking down the graveled walkway toward the magnificent U.S. Capitol Building, framed by the bare branches of winter trees. The dramatic, cloudy sky adds an intensity to the scene, which is amplified by the high-contrast black and white conversion. I focused on the strong lines of the path and crosswalk, which pull the eye directly toward the central dome. It's a powerful and timeless image of a major landmark, emphasizing its grandeur and its role as the destination at the end of a long, clear path."
